Monday, March 4
Opener: Review poetry anthology assignment and rubric, dear reader tips, and reflection tips and sample.
Work Session:
  1. Compose dear reader letter and reflections for the poetry anthology.
  2. Compile materials and create table of contents for poetry anthology.
Closer: List final touches needed for poetry anthology due tomorrow.
HOMEWORK: No Red Ink due Sunday. Poetry Anthology due Tuesday; make sure to include your rubric inside the anthology for grading. Bring an independent reading text (print only); second set of ZINC due March 15th.


Tuesday, March 5
Opener: Gallery walk anthologies.
Work Session:
  1. View sample poems for IRY.
  2. Compose an “I Remember You” poem to meet the requirements for sound and figurative language use.
Closer: Peer review IRY poems for poetic devices and sound effects; watch “Harlem” episode of Poetry in America.
HOMEWORK: No Red Ink due Sunday. “I Remember You” poems due Tuesday. Bring an independent reading text (print only); second set of ZINC due March 15th.


Wednesday, March 6
Opener: Examine paintings from/about The Tempest; choose one that you like the best.
Work Session:
  1. Use the word bank to compose a poem that captures the character, mood, and/or action of the painting you chose.
Closer: Examine Shakespearean insults and cast The Tempest 1.1 pantomime.
HOMEWORK:  No Red Ink due Sunday. “I Remember You” poems due Tuesday. Bring an independent reading text (print only); second set of ZINC due March 15th.


Thursday, March 7
Opener: Set up Nearpod.
Work Session:
  1. Explore Shakespeare’s world: Elizabethan language, the Globe Theatre, culture, history, and overview of The Tempest with Nearpod.
  2. Analyze, rehearse, and perform Act I Scene 1 https://folgereducation.wordpress.com/2015/02/03/5-great-ways-to-start-a-shakespeare-unit/(pantomime, self-reflection, group discussion; add dialogue).
Closer: Compare and contrast class performances with professional productions of the opening scene.

Friday, March 8
Opener: Review tips for voiceover, finding sound files, and creating aesthetically pleasing visuals (fonts, transitions, images).
Work Session: 
  1. Revise “I Remember You” poem to meet the requirements for sound and figurative language use.
  2. Create the video for IRY.
Closer: Peer review poems, analyzing figurative language and sound effects.
